M3Syst: A very simple and flexible Security Solution
07:58 GMT, August 25, 2008 The Swiss company Securiton SA, a part of the Alarm and Security Systems Division of the Swiss Securitas Group, invited officials of the German Armed Forces and the German procurement office (BWB), as well as journalists to a live presentation and demonstration of its mobile modular monitoring system, M3Syst Compact.
In accordance with the military engineering agency for pioneer and troop equipment (WTD 51), an federal agency testing the material that the Federal Armed Forces are about to introduce, Securiton - together with its German partner Rheinmetall - had the chance to show the benefits of this system for German purposes.
“Professional property protection has never been as mobile,” said Artur Schmidt, CEO of Securiton AG. And the Director of WTD 51, Horst Axel Minning confirmed that the system is much more then a demonstrator. In fact, the M3Syst is already in service with the Swiss and Swedish Armed Forces and was used with SWISSCOY in Kosovo as well as to protect several summits and high ranking meetings such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Companies such as EADS Manching and the Central Europe's leading power and gas company E.ON are using Securiton systems as well as the NATO School in Oberammergau and the Federal Foreign Office (both Germany). The Swedish Armed Forces implemented the M3Syst Compact within their assignments in the Nordic Battle Group (NBG) as part of the European rapid reaction concept.
M3Syst Compact is a very quick deployable security system, which essentially comprises two main modules: the surveillance and control centre and peripherals such as cameras and sensors. The system components are connected in a simple way using pre-assembled hybrid cables and can be installed in a very short time without any construction work. The system itself is put into operation using plug & play technology. And with the latest IP technology there are virtually no limits to M3Syst Compact’s expansion and networking possibilities.
The system can be fitted with all kind of sensors, metal detectors, biometric access scanners, segregating devices and a baggage X-ray as well as with special surveillance such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle’s (UAVs), Unmanned Ground Vehicle’s (UGVS) or CBRN detection.
At the WTD 51 demonstration, Securiton also successfully implemented Rheinmetall’s FIRST (Fast Integrated Search and Track) 360°reconnaissance sensor into the architecture of M3Syst.
A key factor in the efficiency of a surveillance system is greatest-possible flexibility. M3Syst Compact meets this requirement, even while in operation the system can be adapted at any time to changing requirements, and can be reduced or expanded (e.g. when protecting mobile property).
The System is made for a quick needed temporary or mid-term assignment. The demonstration showed that M3Syst Compact provides effective protection due to ensured traceability and secure evidence with a permanent video recording.
“This system will allow to reduce the security personnel while let them more space to concentrate on their job,” Georg Schweizer, Area Sales Manager of Securiton said.
The surveillance and control centre - the system’s nerve - handles all the data from the peripherals and from the optional access control such as live video images, messages and alarm management system. The surveillance personnel use digital image storage to analyse every situation instantly – and trigger precise interventions just as quickly. One air-portable system with one surveillance and control centre allows its operator to monitor an area with a maximum perimeter of 6,000 m (20,000 feet).
“However, this system doesn’t shoot”, Schweizer said confirming that the ‘interception’ part will still be done by the personnel.
