11:13 GMT, September 30, 2009 Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev attended the final stage of the Zapad-2009 operational-strategic exercise.

The heads of states arrived at the command post of the regional joint force, Obuz-Lesnovsky Range. The Strategic Command Centre informed the presidents about the exercise, joint approach of Belarusian and Russian armed forces to military security of the Union State and about the role of the regional joint force in the Eastern European Collective Security Region.

Alexandr Lukashenko and Dmitry Medvedev familiarised themselves with the troops command carried out by the United Command of the Regional Joint Force. The presidents also visited a secondary command post of the General Staff, Russian Armed Forces, and familiarised themselves with its facilities.

After that the heads of states went to the Belorussky Burial Mound, where joint actions of Belarusian and Russian armed forces were practiced.
