China and Vanuatu discuss defense cooperation

14:14 GMT, November 3, 2009 BEIJING | As China's state-run Xinhua press agency reports, State Councilor and Defense Minister Liang Guanglie held talks here Monday with Patrick Crowby, Minister of Internal Affairs of Vanuatu.

Liang said China attaches importance to developing bilateral ties and defense relations with Vanuatu, despite differences in the scale of their armed forces.

China always regards Vanuatu as a good friend and good partner, Liang said, noting bilateral cooperation has been productive in all fields and China is ready to work with Vanuatu to reinforce defense cooperation.

Liang expressed appreciation of Vanuatu's adherence to the one-China policy.

Crowby said Vanuatu is glad to see its relations with China become increasingly closer, and hopes to intensify defense cooperation.
