09:24 GMT, November 11, 2009 BEIJING | China and Macedonia would like to further advance bilateral military ties, senior military officers of the two countries said here on Tuesday according to the Xinhua press agency.
Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie met with visiting Macedonian Chief of the General Staff Miroslav Stojanovski Tuesday afternoon.
Liang said the years after the normalization of China-Macedonia relations has witnessed smooth development of bilateral ties, fruitful cooperation in various areas and increasing regional and non-governmental exchanges.
The two countries have adhered to the principles of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity and non-interference in each other's internal affairs and supported each other on issues of their respective core interests, which has brought about the good momentum of the development of their relations, said Liang.
The cooperation between the two armed forces is productive although they carried out military exchanges not long ago, said Liang, adding that China is willing to work with Macedonia to push forward the friendly cooperation between their militaries, so as to make more contribution to the development of China-Macedonia comprehensive, friendly and cooperative relations.
Miroslav Stojanovski said Macedonia adhered to the one-China policy.
Further exchanges and cooperation of the two armed forces are in the fundamental interests of the Chinese and Macedonian people and conducive to the comprehensive growth of China-Macedonia relations, said he, adding that Macedonia was ready to boost its military ties with China.
