Chinese officials calls for accelerate construction of PLA army aviation force 

13:12 GMT, March 11, 2010 On March 10, the PLA delegation to the Third Session of the 11th National People’s Congress (NPC) held its 2nd plenary session. 15 deputies delivered speeches by centering on all-roundly implementing the historical mission of the PLA in the new century and the new period, studying and implementing the scientific outlook on development in a deep-going way, and pushing forward the scientific development of national defense and army building.

As a high-tech arm which combines peacetime purpose and wartime purpose and can be used by the army and civilian, the army aviation force with helicopter as its main battle equipment is the development priority of the strategic transformation and construction of the Army of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Ma Xiangsheng, PLA deputy attending the 3rd session of the 11th National People’s Congress, put forward the following three proposals on how to speed up the construction of the PLA army aviation force:

• To offer important grounds for pushing forward the development of army aviation force, it is imperative to strengthen overall planning.

• To create favorable conditions for speeding up the construction of the army aviation force, it is imperative to tackle major and difficult problems.

• To lay a firm foundation for the army aviation force to form a cracking force, it is imperative to stick to rolling development.
