ALQ-135 Jamming Systems Sales Tied to Boeing F-15 Orders

06:46 GMT, March 22, 2010 NEWTOWN, Conn. | The ALQ-135 is an internal electronic jamming system that forms part of the Tactical Electronic Warfare System (TEWS) on the Boeing F-15 Eagle aircraft. The F-15 TEWS consists of the ALR-56C radar warning receiver (RWR) the ALQ-128(V) electronic warfare warning system, the ALE-45(V) countermeasures dispenser, and the ALQ-135(V) jamming system. It operates effectively over a wide range of frequencies. The ALQ-135(V) was developed under a 1971 contract to design and develop a protective system for the F-15 aircraft.

Nearly every country operating the F-15 also uses the ALQ-135. Northrop Grumman has not publicly disclosed that Singapore's F-15SG fighters are fitted with the ALQ-135, however the F-15SG is reportedly configured similarly to the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) F-15K, which does comes equipped with the ALQ-135. Boeing will complete aircraft deliveries to the ROKAF in 2011, while deliveries to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) are expected be finished in 2012.

Even though the desirability of the F-15 is diminishing, sales are still probable, especially if the F-22 continues to be unavailable on the international market. F-15 orders are also possible if militaries need new planes before the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is available for delivery.

The Forecast International Market Intelligence Report on the ALQ-135 is part of the Electronics Systems Service and is currently being updated. Market Intelligence Reports on the Boeing F-15 Eagle, Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22 Raptor and Lockheed Martin F-35 JSF are included in the Military Aircraft Forecast.
