China sets up first maritime NBC emergency rescue team

10:52 GMT, June 1, 2010 The first Chinese Maritime Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (NBC) Emergency Rescue Team was set up in late May at a submarine base of the North China Sea Fleet (NCSF) under the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in Qingdao, Shandong Province.

In order to develop the team’s capability in fulfilling rescue tasks, the submarine base had completed the compiling of the professional training outline for maritime NBC emergency rescue operations and teaching materials before the establishment of the team.

At the same time, the base sent technical backbones in batches to the Chemical Defense Command & Engineering College and other relevant units to receive specialized trainings on new equipment utilization, maintenance and command.
