Thales launches "MOSAIC"

18:00 GMT, June 17, 2010 An operator offer for secure communications and information in the Defence and Security domain

Through its modular MOSAIC solution, Thales offers end-to-end resilient and secure C4I services with high-level availability for defence and security customers to exchange voice, data and videos during missions. Therefore, MOSAIC adapts to customer requirements, and operational constraints. It also provides secure and customised communications and information capability with guaranteed quality of service.

For all user environments, homebase or outside theatre of operation, onboard mobile terrestrial, airborne, maritime or roaming platforms, MOSAIC offers bespoke solutions, respectively through the Mosaic'On-Land, Mosaic'On-Board and Mosaic'On-Mobile variants.

MOSAIC provides secure communication and information services based on two flexible, open-ended and innovative contract package:
• as a network operator, in the form of a managed infrastructure that then offers "connectivity" to match a number of users (Pay-per-User),
• as a service operator, in the form of a volume of communications (minutes of voice, volume of data, minutes of video streaming) under a pre-defined flat rate approach (Pay-per-Use).

"The MOSAIC service solution combines all the technical expertise of Thales in information security, resilient system architecture and management of networks and infrastructures" stated Laurent Maury, Vice President of Thales Communications SA, Customer Services and Support. "The exceptional operational experience gained when rolling out complex solutions for the most demanding users has made Thales the "Trusted Operator" for Defence and Security customers".

MOSAIC is based on solutions that have been field proven, notably in Afghanistan where Thales has been responsible for operating and maintaining NATO' strategic network for the forces of the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) since 2006. Furthermore, as part of a contract signed with a European governmental customer, Thales provides secure communications services on board an aircraft, for which it manages the ground infrastructure.
