Joining Gen. Jones on the Board are Arthur B. Culvahouse Jr., a former White House Counsel to President Reagan and Chair of the international law firm O'Melveny & Myers LLP, and Mary L. Howell, the former Executive Vice President of Textron Inc.
The Advisory Board will provide Van Scoyoc Associates and its sister companies – Capitol Decisions Inc., VSConsulting, and The Implementation Group – with counsel and assistance relating to strategic planning, identification of market trends and new business opportunities, and client service improvements.
"We are so honored to have three such distinguished and accomplished people to work with us," said H. Stewart "Stu" Van Scoyoc, the President and CEO of the Van Scoyoc Companies.
"Their broad experience, their unique viewpoints, and personal examples of success will inspire us to work in new and better ways to continue providing client service second to none," Mr. Van Scoyoc said.
The Advisory Board will meet on a regular basis with Mr. Van Scoyoc, the firm's Vice Presidents, and staff members to formulate ideas and strategies to improve and expand the companies' ongoing work, and the board members will be available to consult on specific issues and plans relating to the direction of the companies.
Gen. Jones has spent over 40 years serving and protecting America, first as a Marine Corps officer in Vietnam, then rising in the ranks to become the liaison officer to the U.S. Senate, commander of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in Northern Iraq and Turkey, Marine Corps Commandant, and commander of the U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander in Europe.
After retiring from the service, Gen. Jones became President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy before joining the Obama Administration. He now leads Jones Group International, a consulting firm in Vienna, Va.
As Chair of O'Melveny & Myers LLP, Mr. Culvahouse leads an international firm of 850 lawyers. After serving as White House Counsel, Mr. Culvahouse was a member of various government commissions and boards dealing with national security, including the Federal Advisory Committee on Nuclear Failsafe and Risk Reduction and the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and Intelligence Oversight Board. He began his career in Washington as Chief Legislative Assistant and Counsel to former Sen. Howard H. Baker Jr. of Tennessee.
Ms. Howell joined Textron in 1980 and served as an officer for 24 years of this large multi-industry corporation. Her leadership and vision played an integral role in Textron's transformation from a collection of unrelated businesses to a synergistic, unified global company.
She currently serves on the boards of directors for Esterline Technologies Corp., an aerospace and defense company, and the Atlantic Council of the United States, a non-partisan network of leaders that promotes constructive U.S. leadership and engagement in international affairs. She is also President of Howell Strategy Group.
