Avio is a leader in aerospace components with a turnover in excess of €1.5 billion. A total of 1,200 persons work at the two facilities in Campania, at Pomigliano d’Arco and Acerra.

Avio was founded in 1908 and is a leading company in the aerospace sector. It is present in Italy and abroad with 18 facilities and over 5,000 employees. Its turnover for 2007 amounted to €1,553 million. It operates in four main business sectors in which it carries out design, production and maintenance services: modules and components for propulsion systems for military and civil aircraft and helicopters; MR&O and services for civil and military aircraft and helicopter engines; space propulsion and tactical propulsion systems; aeroderivative engines and automation systems for marine and industrial applications. It is the Italian reference supplier of aircraft engines, world leader for mechanical transmissions and European leader for solid-fuel space propulsion systems. Avio is also project leader for the new European Vega space launcher.
