U.S. Navy Commissions the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) 

07:08 GMT, January 13, 2009 On Saturday, January 10, the U.S. Navy commissioned the tenth and final Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, the Northrop Grumman-built USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) in Norfolk, Va. Mike Petters (center), corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, addressed the audience, which included former President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush.

The George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) is the 10th and final Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. This evolutionary ship will pave the way to a new class of carriers. Named after the nation’s 41st president, this powerful warship of the 21st century will feature numerous improvements and modernizations.
