Alenia Aermacchi with the M-346 “Master” at the Le Bourget Air Show
07:46 GMT, June 9, 2009 Le Bourget is the largest international showcase for the aviation industry. This year Alenia Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica company, will participate with its leading product, the M-346 “Master”, which in 2009 has already achieved important commercial successes. So far the M-346 “Master” has been selected for contracts totalling over 60 aircraft, with other significant commercial opportunities being actively pursued by participating in major international competitions.
This year will see the M-346 Ground Based Training System Demonstrator (GBTSD) displayed for the first time in the Training area of the Finmeccanica stand, allowing visitors to operate the aircraft systems. Developed jointly with CAE of Canada, the GBTSD software is derived from that aboard the M-346 and – together with a faithful replica of the cockpit and the possibility of using a virtual tactical environment – allows users to experience the operational missions of modern combat aircraft.
Alenia Aermacchi also displays, again in the Finmeccanica stand, scale models of its range of trainers that meet the requirements for all phases of training. This starts with screening/primary on the SF-260 and progresses to the basic phase with the M-311, to the advanced/lead-in fighter phase with the MB-339CD and culminates with the latest Aermacchi design, the M-346 “Master” new generation advanced trainer.
In the Finmeccanica static area, Guests and Delegations will be able to examine at close quarters the M-346 “Master”. Flight displays will highlight its high performance: the red-painted pre-series M-346, flown by Cdr. Quirino Bucci, Alenia Aermacchi Chief Test Pilot, will be a regular performer throughout the entire air show.
