India and Namibia sign crucial agreements in areas of defence, economy, trade and investment 

10:10 GMT, August 31, 2009 As DD India reports, India and Namibia have signed crucial agreements for strengthening cooperation in trade, investments and economy between the two nations.

The agreements were signed by Ministers A. K. Antony, S. M.Krishna, Shashi Tharoor and their Namibian counterparts in presence of visiting Namibian President Hifi-ke-punye Pohamba and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

After signing of agreements both leaders expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation between both friendly countries. Dr. Manmohan Singh Said that India will do its best to help Namibia.

Namibian president thanked India for its continued support and said that the issue of democratization of UN Security Council also figured during bilateral talks.

Earlier, the Namibian President was given a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday morning. Later he visited Rajghat and paid tribute to the fatherof the nation Mahatma Gandhi.

The Namibian President who will be accompanied by a 43-member delegation including five Ministers, senior officials, representatives of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and businessmen, will call on President Pratibha Patil on 31st August.

Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Leader of Opposition L K Advani and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will call on him.
